2003-11-19 6:42 a.m. Why was I up at 6:23 this morning? Why why why? Maybe I am just not used to being rested. I went to bed early after chatting with deb-e-ne-ne for a bit - she grew up in the same 'hood Josh did. A couple of times when we went to his house during college, we played pool at a place right by her parent's house. Crazy. It's a small world after all.... Now that you all hate me for getting that song in your heads, I guess i could actually update... I have a job! Yesterday I had an interview at 9:00 am and they offered me the job at 4:30. It's a similar company to the one I was working for, similar position (still doing closings, blah blah blah), but it pays four thousand dollars more a year. How sweet is that? It's like I got laid off, so now I get two weeks paid vacation because I start at the new place on Dec 1, and then I get a big raise. Whoot! I'm actually excited about the job too - it's doing closings for the Dept of HUD, which means more detailed stuff and lots of interesting situations, because most of the homes are coming from foreclosures. Which means lots of interesting research, hopefully. Yay! Quick on the weekend: Friday night after I told everyone about the layoff, Mitch and Nai invited me over for some drinks. Curt couldn't go because his tonsils were still too swollen, wah! But I went over there and we had a beer and then decided to go downtown to La Buv3tte and get some sparkling wine, so I could toast the bastards that laid me off. Michelle was there with a date, and Manesh and Andrew came to join us, and we laughed and talked and drank three bottles of sparkling wine and ate FABULOUS cheese. Decided to go to the Fr3nch Cafe, and had cocktails and appetizers and 2 bottles of wine - this zin if you're wondering - and we were all pretty good and gone by this point. So of course we went to another bar and played pool and drank beers, and by the time it was 12:30 I was totally plowed and Andrew had to take me home. So I get home at what, 12:45 probably? And I was fine the whole night when we were out and there were people around, but I was most certainly not fine when I was trashed and all alone in my apartment. I started crying because well, I was drunk and scared because I just got laid off 13 hours before, so what do you do then? Apparently you call your deathly ill boyfriend and ask him to come over and be with your dumbass. Which is exactly what he did, thank god... I adore this boy. And he held onto me while I bawled all over his sweatshirt and told me it was going to be ok and that I was beautiful and talented and that I would find a job soon. Eventually, I calmed down and went to sleep. Saturday was uneventful. Shopping at salvation army, I got a red nylon vest for $5.99 which is awesome and so cool, and also a leather Pip-from-southpark hat for $8 at the mall. Go me. Then andrew and I went to the Dell to get some food, and Curt and Adam joined us, and Ryan and Amanda were there eating, so we all played pool and hung out for a little bit. After awhile, everyone else went home and Adam, Curt and I went back to their place, where Adam got ready to go out and we chatted and watched "28 Days Later". I liked the movie a lot, but I can see why not everyone would - there is a lot of blood and the concept is kinda creepy. Post-apocalyptic plague, you're one of the only ones left - what do you do? I think I would curl up in a ball and wait till someone ate me. My will to survive is strong, but I don't think it's THAT strong. You know? Sunday laid around. That's it. Monday too, except Andrew and I also had lunch and played pool in the middle of the day while drinking beer. That was fun. Yesterday was my interview, then I had lunch with one of my old coworkers, then I bleach bombed the kitchen (which is spotless! SPOTLESS!) and cleaned the bathtub and then I got a job offer and yay! I'm not really unemployed anymore! I need to call the temp agency and let them know. I wonder though if they would have anything for me, maybe just a couple days assignments so I could make a little cash in these two weeks. Maybe I will ask her. I get my severance package on Friday. Oh happy day, I can pay my bills. I have a JOB! YAY!
