2003-12-16 11:24 a.m. Otis Redding in the CD player. Oh, he is awesome… “Sitting On the Dock of the Bay” is such a beautiful song, it gives me shivers. Which are eclipsed only by Dusty Springfield’s “Preacher Man” and Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together”, if you want to talk about those big voices from the 70’s. Though there is Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On” also… So much music, so little time. I really need to win the lottery so I can get some more CDs, the list is getting obnoxiously long. Anyway. I am the worst updater ever… it’s been four days. But four pretty uneventful days. Friday night Andrew and I had 2 drinks at the Old Dund33 and then I went home, had a Newc@stle while watching Letterman, and went to bed at midnight. I slept until 10:00 on Saturday, probably a new record for me! It was so nice though. Had breakfast with Mom and T and then T and I went shopping. My xmas present from her is a denim skirt from the Gap and a pair of PJ pants from Target; hers from me is a corduroy fur-lined jacket from the Gap. Go us. I think everyone else on my list is going to get my love and affection for Christmas because I am ASS BROKE. Sigh. Why can’t I budget? Anyway. That night Andrew and I went to his company’s holiday thingie at Upstream and got trashed. I’m talking making the cabbie drive through the ATM because we were both out of money at the end trashed. Stumbling through my parents house, pulling his shoes off and throwing him on the couch trashed. Don’t remember taking my contacts out or changing into my PJs trashed (though I did both, thankfully). And to top it all off we had to get up at 7:30 so he could be at work at 9, because I had to take him to pick up his car downtown. I must have looked interesting getting back to my parents’ house at 8, wearing my pimp coat, pink pajama pants, sneakers, and carrying a cup of gas station coffee. White trash, anyone? Oh well. Sunday went to brunch with Naomi, Chad, and Katrina, made some cookies, and then made this pasta, which was awesome, and watched the end of “Angels in America”. I was kind of disappointed, frankly – it got much more staged in the second half and it didn’t seem nearly so moving. Oh well, the first half was some of the most brilliant filmmaking I’ve seen in a LONG, long time and the cinematography was still incredibly beautiful in the second half, so it was definitely worth watching. Boyfriend just called! He got back last night around 11:30 so he has the day off today, and he’s buying me lunch. Whee! I can’t wait to see him.
