My So-Called Internet Based Life

The Home Depot has taken on a much more amusing role in my life. Now that this whole house thing is going on, I have this strange interest in lawn mowers, ceiling fans, and paint. Who knew there were that many colors of white out there? And they have weird names. Ecru. Oatmeal. Eggshell. There are pinkish whites, bluish whites, yellowish whites, beige-ish whites, and then white white. Oy.

Light a candle for me, people. This whole “bidding on a house” process is driving me batty already – and then it’s just like, what happens then? What if I can’t make the payments? What if the power company is lying to me and the electricity for this house is going to be like, $400 a month? Will I ever be able to afford a bottle of wine or a dinner out or a movie again?

The house we were looking at buying is under contract. We just found out. That makes me so sad. It was so very cute and I really, really liked it and now it’s going to belong to someone else. Bah.

I don’t want to look for houses. I just want to buy a house, is that ok? Looking at real estate is tiring and really, not all that much fun. Planning what to do with the house I thought we were going to get was kind of fun. Showing Mitch & Naomi pictures of it was fun. Knowing that it’s going to belong to someone else even though I want it is not fun at all.

And here I thought I was going to be a nice, easy buyer to work with because I’ve been involved with this process for so many other people. It is such a different ballgame when you’re looking for yourself, and I had no idea.

So disappointed. Sigh. Keep looking, it’ll happen, it’s only been a week.
