Wallpaper sucks. Whoever invented it should be shot. I have paste under my nails and my cuticles are a complete disaster, but all THREE layers of old wallpaper are gone and I can see the walls in my kitchen again.

My kitchen! I have a kitchen! Of my very own. Well, that I have to share with Curt, but I like him so it’s ok. :)

Monday morning we closed on the house… you can see some pictures from our walkthrough here. Mostly they are of closets, sorry. But you can get a general idea of what it looks like. Curt then proceeded to drive over there, getting a $240 speeding ticket on his way. D’oh.

When I got over there Monday about 4:30, I just looked around… it’s amazing. We own these walls. This porch. The flowers in the yard? Are planted in dirt that belongs to us. It’s madness to think about and I’m getting all kind of fluttery inside just considering it.

Then we went out to buy stuff. Paint. Cleaning supplies. A big garbage can. Plates. (Somehow, we had no plates. Zach had plates, and Adam had plates, so neither of us had more than two plates. Now we have eight plates, eight bowls, eight coffee cups. For $16. I rule! Ahem.) Doormats. Scrapers. Wallpaper remover. Drill bits. Champagne. (Ok, that was totally unnecessary but it was so yummy and fun.)

We washed the dishes, cleaned the cupboards and the bathroom, and then left. When we left we felt really terrible, like we were abandoning the poor house when we had just started to hang out with it and get to know it. It was weirdly very hard to do.

Yesterday, we pulled the wallpaper down in the kitchen. Mother of god, it sucked. But Naomi and I got it done with lots of DIF and lots of drinks, and now we have bare walls. Yay! Just begging to be primed and painted.

Tonight, we start with the paint. Should be interesting.
