2004-06-29 2:04 p.m. I’m still here! Really! I just haven’t updated in a million years, because I am simultaneously crazy busy and feeling like nothing is happening. Still at my job. However, I have a job offer from another company – option four in the last entry. I have accepted it, as of today. Unfortunately, my boss is out of town (AGAIN) so I haven’t told him yet and I am all nervous that it isn’t going to go well. Sigh. I have been drafting resignation letters, but they are all generally either a) exceptionally profane; b) very rude; c) very bitter; or d) all of the above. Probably not the best tactic. Dear dickhead boss, I hate working for you and I wish you grave bodily harm. I quit. Sincerely, Me Why do I forsee that is not the best way to do this? Hm. But how do I compose a tactful but yet not apologetic letter of resignation? Any of the non-profane, non-rude, non-bitter things I could say sound more like breakup letters, not letters of resignation. Like the “it’s not working out, I have to terminate this relationship” – he’s my boss, for god’s sake. Maybe I should go with the short but sweet. Boss, I have decided to accept a position with another company. My last day in my current position will be July 2. Sincerely, Me That might work best. Augh, this is making me crazy. I just know it’s going to go badly no matter HOW I do it, so I don’t want to do it at all. Oh well I guess I have to if I’m going to really be trying to take the high road, right? Like leaving a job on a day’s notice is really that high of a road. Ah, I don’t care anymore, I just want out out out. In other news, Target is really funny and is definitely the more enjoyable of the two jobs. The managers are cool and the coworkers are finally starting to get used to me, instead of me just being the New Person no one talks to. So odd that cashiers at a retail store have this hierarchy. Customers are just odd, but I think that is the nature of working with people. Hopefully new job will mean lots less interaction with people; that would be nice too. Especially people who are like Mick.
