2004-08-10 12:30 p.m. Oh dear, I am such a dland slacker. I think it’s been almost two weeks. But let me tell you, it has been a crazy two weeks and actually a lot has changed. For the better. So on Monday July 26, I go to work and the HR person says that one of my coworkers, Cris, has been in a car accident, and can I go over to her office and pick up her files? What was I supposed to say, no? I mean, the end of the month is busy but I figured she probably had her stuff together in some way and that I would be able to see what was about to close easily, etc. and just pick them up and go back to my office. WRONG. Her office was a disaster, there were files all over the floor and stuff sticking out everywhere, checks sitting around waiting to be sent off to people (which you are NOT SUPPOSED TO DO, ever ever ever) and just general chaos. So I picked it all up and took it with me. And spent 55 hours at work that week trying to figure out what was going on with them, talking to irate agents, and get them and my own files closed. It was a nightmare. My boss was also out of town at the time, so there wasn’t anyone who had time for me to bounce things off of. Julie came back on Wednesday, and was just appalled at what had been going on over at Cris’ office. Everything we’ve seen since then has just backed up the conclusion that Cris either didn’t know what she was doing or didn’t care at ALL about her stuff. They offered me her job on Thursday and fired her officially on Friday – I felt awful because it’s like, hello, she just got in a car accident. But I can’t even hardly describe what her stuff was like. So yeah. I have another new job. We’re going to call this one a promotion though, because I think I have changed jobs enough. Same boss, more money, better office, 32 hour a week assistant. Whee! It’s excellent. But very crazy and so I have had no time at all, almost, to update internet things and do any more that just read on Digs and not really contribute at all. It’s interesting and very different, let me tell you. But hopefully I can work on updating more. We shall see. I had a few spare moments today, so there you go, that’s where I’ve been.
